SEND Reform & Inclusion Development Session – Tuesday 8 September at 3.30 pm
This session will provide an opportunity to update senior leaders of Hillingdon schools on the progress of the SEND Reform Plan, share emerging developments, and discuss the next phase of co-production with schools as we continue to design and shape future models of support across the borough. Clerks Briefing Autumn 2026 - Wednesday 9 September at 6pm and Tuesday 15 September at 10am
Clerks Autumn Term Briefing 2026.
We will deliver an online Clerks briefing, the session is intended to keep clerks up to date and informed about governance activities within Hillingdon as well as current legislation and initiatives. There will be the opportunity for clerks to share their practice and to discuss any concerns or seek clarification about aspects of school governance. You are only required only need to sign up to one of the sessions as they will cover the same topics.
Safeguarding Training for Governors 2026/2027 - Wednesday 16 September 2026 at 6pm

Mandatory training for all governors. An online session will be delivered by Amandeep Tamber, Education Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer. The session will highlight the changes to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) as well as current local and national issues and provide an oversight of Hillingdon’s safeguarding processes.
Understanding Governor Responsibilities to handling complaints – Monday 5 October 2026 at 6pm
This online training session will be delivered by Richard Woodfin, School Improvement Adviser will provide an overview of the practical steps boards can take when handling complaints.

Understanding the governor responsibilities for SEND & Inclusion provision within schools - Tuesday 20 October 2026 at 6pm
This online training session will be delivered by Caroline Ryder, SEND Education Improvement Advisor and Hannah Sheridan Senior SEND advisor. As SEND & Inclusion provision is an ever-increasing priority for schools and their leaders, there are significant challenges in providing an excellent SEND & Inclusion provision. This training outlines the responsibilities governors have for championing effective SEND & Inclusion provision in schools. It will increase confidence and provide the knowledge needed to participate in conversations with leaders surrounding provision. It will highlight the local and national picture whilst allowing reflection on your own setting and provides an insight into what an inclusive classroom may look like during school visits. It will also outline how the LA supports schools with SEND and the new SEND strategy and the implications of the governments SEND reforms in the recently published White Paper. An Overview of Schools Finance for Governors, Knowing your Responsibilities - Monday 23 November 2026 at 6pm
An online session will be delivered by Luisa Hansen, Head of Finance, Education and SEND and will provide an update on school’s finance in Hillingdon, as well as a brief overview of where schools’ funding comes from. It will also outline the key responsibilities that governors play in managing and monitoring school budgets. Understanding School Performance Data for Governors - 1st March 2027 at 6pm
This online training session will be delivered by Jason Hughes, School Improvement Adviser. The training will develop governors' understanding of the school's data and how to interpret data to enable governors to prepare for and participate in data-driven meetings. It will also cover using data to give governors the confidence to ask challenging questions of the headteacher and school leadership team in order to improve performance and pupil attainment. Being able to analyse school performance data and drill down to the core information will enable governors to make comparisons and benchmark how their school is performing compared to other schools in similar circumstances. Understanding the Ofsted Inspection Updates for School Governors 19 April 2027 at 6pm
This online training will be delivered by Jason Hughes, Primary School Improvement Adviser on Monday 19 April at 6pm. The training will outline updates to the recently introduced Ofsted report card framework, offering practical guidance for governors. This session will support governors in understanding their role before, during and after an Ofsted inspection, with a focus on how to work effectively with school leaders in light of the new report card framework.
