ShoutWest! A Story Making Festival
A new Story Making Festival from CWISL - Children's Writers and Illustrators for Stories and Literacy
We're the team who've run the successful ShoutWest! festivals at Brunel University for local school children - two days of creative writing, illustrating and story creation.
In the current unpredictable climate with COVID restrictions we cannot deliver the next ShoutWest! in person. Instead ...
Welcome to ShoutWest! 2021: a one-day virtual festival delivered to your school.
What is it?
● A day-long programme: writing, storytelling, drama and illustrating
● A combination of live streamed hugely interactive workshops andpre-recorded sessions
● Delivered via Teams/ Google or similar platform to your school classrooms
● An author/ illustrator team to present live on screen to a class
● Day culminates in pupils sharing their work
What do you get out of it?
● For students - they will gain practical skills in creative writing, idea creation and idea organization but also practice public speaking and build self-esteem
● For teaching staff - published authors and illustrators can share ideas and strategies to promote effective writing and inspire creativity in the classroom
● For the school - additional event with CWISL authors and Hillingdon Libraries
Who is if for?
● Year 5 and Year 6 pupils
● More than one class per school can participate simultaneously
● Festival can be tailored to meet the needs of your pupils
When?
● We plan to deliver the festival in the spring term of 2021
● We can be flexible with dates of course to suit your school
Cost
● We plan to provide this festival free of charge to local schools (aside from a nominal registration fee) thanks to funding from Hillingdon Community Trust
● However, to secure our final funding we need to prove interest from local schools
Interested?
● Get in touch - we are currently in the final stages of securing funding
● We need a certain number of schools to express interest in order to proceed with the grant
● You can help enormously by letting us know
