What's on offer?

  • For children, young people and families, there's information on health and wellbeing, learning, education and employment opportunities, early years and childcare support, and family hubs and children's centres

Use Of Reasonable Force and Other Restrictive Interventions Guidance

Have you had your say on the proposed changes to the use of reasonable force?

This is the first update since publication in 2013. This consultation seeks views on proposed revisions to the use of reasonable force and other restrictive interventions guidance. The revised guidance will aim to:

  • clarify the use of reasonable force to help school staff use this power safely and appropriately
  • help schools use prevention and de-escalation strategies to minimise the need to use reasonable force and other restrictive interventions

Please have your voice heard and follow this link to the consultation to share your views and ideas on these proposals. The consultation closes on 29April 2025.

My London Story Project

London Museum would love to invite your school to participate in a new, exciting project -  My London Story.

They are looking to work with a year 5 and year 8 cohort to collect their stories and lived experience of London. London Museum is working with one school in every London borough on a three-year year Arts Council England funded project to capture a snapshot of the lives of London's children for the first time.

In the summer term they are hoping to work with one school to represent the London Borough of Hillingdon. They are looking to create an archive that truly represents London through the eyes of London's 10 and 13-year-olds.

Please see further details:  My London Story project invitation for schools 2025 (PDF, 102 KB)

Request for Trauma Informed Research in Schools

My name is Amy Gossling and I am conducting a research project for my MSc Psychology course at Wrexham University. The research data collection will run between 21/02/25 to 04/04/25. This study was granted ethical approval by the Psychology Department Ethics Committee at Wrexham University on 03/02/25.

Trauma informed schools' approaches are becoming more frequently discussed and implemented within schools as an alternative way to support pupils. This research aims to explore the relationship between professional quality of life (ProQOL) scores and perceptions of educators on the trauma-informed approaches in schools. Understanding these links will offer a better insight into further considerations needed for supporting educators and reducing barriers for a successful implementation of trauma-informed approaches in schools.

I am interested in collecting data from anyone who works in a primary/secondary school in a student-facing role in the UK that is over 18 years of age. All participants will be anonymous. This research will be conducted anonymously via the use of Gorilla and should take around 15 minutes to complete.

The data obtained from this study will form the basis of my postgraduate dissertation. A summary of the data may be presented at conferences, in academic presentations, or may be published in scientific journals.

You can access the survey via this link: https://research.sc/participant/login/dynamic/614874A1-8D99-4014-AC83-396D552C9276

If you would like more information, please direct any questions to Amy Gossling via email at S0303478@mail.glyndwr.ac.uk.
