SWITCH Programme

The SWITCH 2020 programme had a successful first term from October to December 2020 where we were engaging with 50 young people across 5 primary schools in the borough on a weekly basis. Four of these schools were on a face to face format in school, and the other was an online format. In addition to this we are currently delivering one to one support sessions to two young people from our September 2019 cohort in their first two terms of secondary school.

Unfortunately with the recent restrictions in place, we have not been able to return to carry out the face to face sessions in primary schools and so our contingency plan has come into action! For those young people that are not in school we are offering an online format of the programme for each school, which we began to roll out week commencing 4th January 2021. Obviously, it will be very different to being with them physically, but our main aim is to keep them engaged and to offer support during these difficult times. The school that had already opted to undertake the online format and the one to one online sessions will carry on as normal.

Looking to the future, we will need to start progressing with the September 2021 cohort of the SWITCH programme and so will be in touch in the February School Leader's Briefing regarding this. If you have any questions regarding the SWITCH programme, please do not hesitate to contact me oncsomaskandan@hillingdon.gov.uk
