Natasha Byfield
Virtual School Lead Practitioner (Attendance & Exclusions and Alternative Provision)
I have always been passionate about education and striving for better outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. My degree in Education and Psychology provided a great platform from which to embark my professional career. I have worked across different Local Authorities in London including, The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, Ealing, Walthamstow and Hammersmith & Fulham. My background as an Education Welfare Officer, Youth Worker, Childcare Officer in a Women's Refugee Centre and working across many Primary, Secondary and Special Needs Schools supporting SEN students, has helped shape my knowledge of the Education and Social Care sectors and the children who access these services.
More recently I have volunteered for 3 years as a School Governor, which has provided me with further insight and perspective into how schools work mechanically. I have been able to draw on all my previous experiences within my current role as a Virtual School Practitioner in Hillingdon Virtual School. In this role, I proactively lead on Attendance and Exclusions for Looked After Children. I am motivated by seeing and wanting a positive change for all the amazing children I work with individually and as a collective.
