Finance Information Sharing & Networking Sessions - September 2023

New to School Governance Training - 19th September 2023 6 - 7 pm

Although this session was targeted to new governors, all governors and clerks were also invited for a refresh.  The session covered the Instrument of Government, Terms of Reference, Overview of the main committees, Composition of the Governing Board, Roles and responsibilities, Decision making process, Headteacher performance review, Review and amendment of statutory policies, Support and challenge in equal amounts, Governor support and CPD.

An Overview of Different Types of LBH SEND Funding - 16th October 2023 4.30 - 5.30 pm

This session looked at the funding options that are available to settings/schools to support children/young people with SEND.  A recording of the session and access to the slides used can be found here.

 


Safeguarding Training for Governors - 14th November 2023 6 - 8 pm

Safeguarding training for governors is a mandatory requirement.   This training session provided a brief overview of different types of abuse children and young people may experience. It then focused on the safeguarding requirements and best practice in schools and the role governors play in supporting this. The session highlighted current local and national issues as well as providing oversight of Hillingdon processes.  Certificates of attendance for the live session were issued.

Support & Challenge Session for Governors - 28th February 2024 6 - 7 pm

This online session, delivered by the LA School Improvement Education Advisors, covered topics around strategic planning, school Improvement, financial management, accountability and compliance plus more.

Panels for Governors/Trustees & Leadership Pay Training delivered by The Schools HR Co-operative - 14th March 2024 5 - 7 pm

The session covered Understanding the expectations of being on a panel, How a panel is constituted, The different people/roles involved in the process, The authority the panel has and other procedural matters, How to deal with difficult participants, The role of the Panel Chairperson, Implications of panel decision making and how to come to a decision.  In addition, the session included a briefing on Leadership Pay to support governors/trustees with implementing leadership pay following pay awards and performance reviews etc.

SEND Governor Training Session - 21st March 2024 6 - 7 pm

This session looked at the role of the SEND governor, how the LA supports schools with SEND and the new SEND strategy.

Governors Networking Session - 18th June 2024 at 6 - 7.30pm
