St Mary's Ukrainian Supplementary School

We are pleased to inform you about the opening of a new location of St Mary's Ukrainian Supplementary School at Oak Wood School, Sutton Court Road, Hillingdon UB10 9HT.

The grand opening was held on 22nd October 2023. Our Ukrainian Children and Families Team of Hillingdon Council was honoured to witness this great event. The launching of the new location comprised the efforts of many people who were embraced by the mutual strive to provide the Ukrainian children with the opportunity to learn their own language, history, culture, and values, as well as to integrate effectively into the local community. It's worth mentioning that this event wouldn't be possible without the kind promotion and active support of Councillor Philip Corthorne and the ex-Mayor of Hillingdon, Teji Barnes. They picked up the idea of launching a new Ukrainian school in Hillingdon following the vivid examples of other boroughs, and together with the administrative team of St Mary's Ukrainian Supplementary School, they endeavored to make it a reality.

The well-organized event was filled with joy, happiness, and a warm atmosphere. The child Ukrainian choir and the junior pupils of the school welcomed the guests, singing songs and reciting poems. Many heartfelt wishes were delivered, and perspectives were outlined.

The main objective of the school lies in providing educational and nurturing processes with a comprehensive curriculum. Planning and support are to ensure that students develop academic skills and subject knowledge. Regular communication with parents and caregivers will enable us to meet the diverse and specific needs of migrant families, looked-after children, refugees and asylum seekers.

The age of students admitted varies from 4 full years as of 1st October 2023, to 16 years. Currently, classes will be grouped according to age, depending on the number of children. School working hours are from 09:45 a.m. to 15:00 p.m. on Sundays.
