This session is intended to keep clerks up to date and informed about activities within Hillingdon as well as current legislation and initiatives. There will be the opportunity for clerks to share their practice and to discuss any concerns or seek clarification about aspects of their work.

Understanding Responsibilities for All Governors for SEND & Inclusion Provision within Schools - 24th February 2026 at 6 pm
This online training session will be delivered by Caroline Ryder, SEND Education Improvement Advisor and Hannah Sheridan Senior SEND advisor.
As SEND provision is an ever-increasing priority for schools and their leaders, there are significant challenges in providing an excellent SEND provision. This training outlines the responsibilities governors have for championing effective SEND provision in schools. It will increase confidence and provide the knowledge needed to participate in conversations with leaders surrounding provision. It will highlight the local and national SEND picture whilst allowing reflection on your own setting and provides an insight into what an inclusive classroom may look like during school visits. It will also outline how the LA supports schools with SEND and the new SEND strategy.
Understanding School Performance Data for Governors - 23rd March 2026 at 6pm
This online training session will be delivered by Jason Hughes, School Improvement Adviser. The training will develop governors' understanding of the school's data and how to interpret data to enable governors to prepare for and participate in data-driven meetings. It will also cover using data to give governors the confidence to ask challenging questions of the headteacher and school leadership team in order to improve performance and pupil attainment. Being able to analyse school performance data and drill down to the core information will enable governors to make comparisons and benchmark how their school is performing compared to other schools in similar circumstances.

Ofsted Inspection Updates for School Governors - 12th May 2026 at 6pm
Th is online session will explain the recently introduced Ofsted report card framework, offering practical guidance for governors. This session will support governors in understanding their role before, during and after an Ofsted inspection, with a focus on how to work effectively with school leaders in light of the new report card framework.

An introduction into Understanding the Use of AI in Schools for School Governors - 22nd June 2026 at 6pm
This online training will be delivered by Jason Hughes, Primary School Improvement Adviser. The session will explore how AI is currently being used within schools and the impact this is having in classrooms. It will also consider the legislative context, and the adjustments schools may need to make to policies, protocols and practice. In addition, the training will look at how governors can use AI tools to support and enhance their role.
