SEND Employment Event, 30th January 2020, 10:30 - 2:00
I would like to inform you that the third Getting Ready for Work event will be taking place at the Civic Centre in January 2020. Thank you to all those schools that have supported this event in the past and helped to make it a success.
This event will be looking at inclusive employment, supported internship opportunities and the various programmes that are currently available, or are being set up, in the local area. There will be a variety of stalls to showcase the work that organisations do to support young people with SEND to find work.
The Getting Ready for Work event will be taking place on the 30th January 2020 at the Civic Centre.
This event will include stalls from:
- Colleges that provide supported internships and apprenticeships
- Job Centre Plus with information about benefits
- Local organisations that can provide support around preparing young people with special educational needs and disabilities to find and keep meaningful employment
- Local businesses who are aiming to fill vacancies.
I would like to invite you, your SENCO or inclusion lead, young people with SEND, and their parents or guardians to this event. We want to include as many young people as possible who have SEND, even if it may seem that an individual is far from work ready. We view that everyone has the potential to gain some kind of employment, and we want to open up opportunities for as many people as possible.
A flyer and letter are enclosed with further information regarding the Getting Ready for Work event. I would very much appreciate it if the event could be promoted to teaching staff, parents, families and young people.
