Director's Message - 1st April 2020
Dear Colleagues,
Easter is around the corner and I am very pleased to learn that our Hillingdon schools are ensuring there is sufficient provision available to support vulnerable and key worker families during the Easter break.
As we are aware, the DfE expects schools to remain open over Easter to support parents / carers with vulnerable children and those children of critical key worker roles. Schools have liaised with their families and all the schools with demand will remain open. Some schools with no children are still remaining open in case this demand changes at short notice.
Schools that have decided to close over Easter, due to no children expected in, should keep this under regular review and ensure that their parents / carers are aware of this provision and know how to contact the school if the usual telephone and email are closed. Therefore, no school should be fully closed without a plan to re-open or have shared provision arrangements in place with neighbouring schools.
We appreciate that parent / carer needs may fluctuate depending on isolation dates and if their critical work calls upon them outside of their pre-scheduled rota. We understand how difficult this is for schools, especially with very low numbers, and ask that schools support their families during these exceptional circumstances. This includes the two bank holidays.
If you cannot support your vulnerable and key worker families then please seek support from neighbouring schools to share provision. The LA can support discussions if required.
The following FAQs updates have been undertaken in the attached document:
- Assessment of a key worker's role
- FSM - how to access your UKPRN and DfE contact details added
- Attendance information from the Participation team
- Easter provision between 6-17th April as above
Best wishes,
Dan
