September Guarantee Process 2020 (Secondary schools)
Dear Headteacher,
All secondary schools should follow this September Guarantee process for 2020 to understand the duties and input required in order to report to the Department for Education on pupil destinations and EET activity.
As you are aware, London Borough of Hillingdon has the responsibility (under the terms of the Education and Skills Act 2008 (ESA 2008) (sec. 18 & 68(4)) to ensure that every Year 11 and Year 12 leaving school this year, or who left last year, is offered a guaranteed place in learning by the end of September.
Increasing the participation of young people in education, employment and training post-16 is a key priority for Hillingdon and the LSCB. Although the government has relaxed timescales or paused some data collection activities during this COVID period, this isn't the case for the September guarantee deadlines and hence although we recognise the extreme pressure schools are under, we require your support as in previous years to comply with this statutory return.
Timely data return from schools underpins the September Guarantee process and we would like to ask for your continued help to meet the deadlines promptly.
We understand you are unable to confirm pupil placements until September/October however what we request from you is their intended offer i.e. educational placement/apprenticeship/training etc.
Your Attendance Officers received the required template (please find a copy of the template below) via the Participation Team on 11th May 2020 and I would appreciate your support in encouraging your staff to complete and return it securely by w/c 2nd June 2020.
Kind Regards,
Lesley Campbell
