Service Summary
The London Borough of Hillingdon offers schools advice and support for apprenticeship programmes by utilising the "Apprenticeship Levy." Schools can purchase a Service Level Agreement (SLA) for access to a dedicated advisory service, led by the Early Careers Officer, to help them maximise the use of their Apprenticeship Levy funds.
Benefits of SLA:
- Expert Advice: On apprenticeship training programmes, agreements, new standards, and End Point Assessment (EPA) process.
- Support: From Lead Provider and associated providers for training and advice.
- Value for Money: Ensuring efficient use of levy funds.
- Funding Management: Tracking and accessing online accounts for funding and payments.
- Updates: Sharing guidance and best practices from The Education & Skills Funding Agency.
- Recruitment & Retention: Using apprenticeships to attract and retain staff.
- Training Requirements: Ensuring apprentices meet the 20% off-the-job training requirement.
- Career Fairs: Highlighting apprenticeship programmes at school events.
- Role Prioritisation: Offering apprenticeships for key roles.
Service Standards:
- Providing the best possible advice and support.
- Ensuring quality of access and opportunity.
Monitoring & Evaluation:
- Regular feedback and updates to improve services.
School's Responsibilities:
- Keeping contact details updated.
- Advising on desired standards.
- Making annual payments at the start of the budget year.
Costs:
- £200 per year for access to advice on all current and new standards.
