Kooth - Supporting YPs Wellbeing for Education Return
Kooth has been fully funded by Hillingdon CCG to support all secondary schools in the borough. During these exceptional times wellbeing and mental health education is going to be key to supporting school staff and young people as they return to school in the new term. With impending future Ofsted visits, where there will be continued assessment on the provisions of this support, we would like to highlight how Kooth could benefit each school in the borough.
Kooth's support is flexible and can be customized to meet the needs of the school with a focus on virtual provision during this first term. Kooth is available for all 11-18 year olds across Hillingdon and our support to promote within your school is free.
If you are a SENCo, MH Lead, Pastoral Lead or Counsellor and would like to lead on the engagement for your centre please email the Kooth Integration worker Holly on hmoggridge@xenzone.com and consider what is right for your school. Some options are outlined below and schools are welcome to access any combination [or all] of the stages.
- Stage 1: Make pupils aware by the distribution of Kooth cards and placing Kooth posters on school notice boards. Digital resources can also be requested.
- Stage 2: Staff training session on Kooth and the services it provides. A virtual live tour of the site is given. [facilitated online and are perfect for staff inset training days]
- Stage 3: Parental awareness. Adding Kooth to your school's website, social media platforms, in school bulletins, information leaflets and worded letters, to ensure parents know that their children have this free support available for them to use.
- Stage 4: Virtual assemblies/classes. These assemblies/classes are great for talking to whole year groups or targeted classes [PSHE], about Kooth and the features it provides. These sessions aim to raise awareness of Kooth and highlight the importance of talking about mental health and emotions.
- Stage 5: Virtual bespoke Kooth workshops. These PSHE style sessions focus on a variety of mental health topics such as stress and anxiety and anger management.
We look forward to contact being made within the first term when we will be checking in to see what engagement you have opted for.
