Update on the Year 2 Phonics Screening - Autumn 2020

This updates the School Leader Briefing of 21st September 2020 and gives details of how schools should supply their results to the LA for checking.

The DfE has confirmed that Schools can use their management information system (MIS) to enter and export phonics data to their local authority in common transfer file (CTF) XML format. This can be uploaded for collection via S2S and you should confirm via email to Steve Buckingham once this is done. If using S2S is a problem please contact Steve Buckingham to discuss your options.

The deadline for sending your returns to the LA is the end of the autumn term but if they could be submitted earlier this will help us greatly to process and submit your final results to the DfE. We will also provide you with NOVA reports detailing your results.

It is statutory for schools to report results and for the local authority to pass these results to the DfE. Further information and guidance regarding the phonics data collections can be found on the department's website for the Phonics screening check data collection.

If you have any queries on administering the check, please contact the National Curriculum Assessments Helpline on 0300 303 3013.
