Is Music Safe?
There has been a lot of understandable concern about the safety of singing and music making over the last few months. However recent studies commissioned by the government have shown that singing and playing instruments can be undertaken safely in school with appropriate distancing measures.
It remains an important part of the curriculum and enhances children's wellbeing. Together with your own school risk assessment, musical learning can, and should, resume.
With mitigations in place and consistently applied:
● Schools can welcome visiting teachers;
● It is safe to sing in class;
● Any and all instruments can now be played, including those woodwind and brass instruments that initially caused some concern;
● Groups can be larger than 15 as long as they are in the same bubble;
