Director's Message - 9th December 2020

Dear Colleagues,

We have sought clarification from the RSC and DfE with reference to their recent announcement relating to the end of term date and use of an INSET day for 18th December 2020:

Schools may wish to consider adjusting term dates to make Friday 18th December the last day of term (which could be an INSET day), and bringing forward the start of term in January by the same number of days. In all circumstances, teaching time must be made up at another point in the academic year.

Friday 18th December is not offered as an additional INSET day, therefore should schools choose to use this day as a new INSET day, this must be made up by replacing this with another scheduled INSET day from January-July 2021. If a school does not have the option to take the 18th December as an INSET day then they may still close on that day, but teaching time must be made up at another point in this academic year, 2020/21.

Please continue to access our full update on Covid guidance, including how schools should continue to ensure protective measures via our FAQs on LEAP and email the Education Team via education@hillingdon.gov.uk for any support.

Regards,

Dan
