Kathryn Angelini

Head of Education for Vulnerable Children

As Headteacher of Hillingdon Virtual School, I lead a team of enthusiastic and passionate education professionals focused on improving the outcomes for Hillingdon's Looked After Children. I have been part of the Virtual School team for over six years and have thoroughly enjoyed making links and building relationships in our schools and colleges across the borough. As well as holding Qualified Teacher Status, I am also trained in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (Level 1), Theraplay (Level 1) and I am a gold member of the national Attachment Lead network.

Prior to joining Hillingdon Virtual School, I worked as a History teacher and Head of Faculty for Humanities in a large secondary school in the north west of England. This school was in one of the most socio-economically deprived areas in the country; my experience there not only gave me a greater understanding of working with vulnerable young people, but also ignited within me a desire to change the landscape for children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2014, I moved from the north west to the London area, so this was the perfect opportunity to step out of front-line teaching and into the realms of Virtual Schools.

In my current role I remain passionate about teaching and learning as I feel this is the key to facilitating change for our vulnerable children. I am proud of the training forum we have developed in recent years and I am particularly excited about the Advanced Designated Teacher Programme we are running for the first time this year.
