Beverley O'Dwyer
Virtual School Senior Practitioner
I have worked in Education for over 20 years, teaching in secondary schools both in the North West and here in Hillingdon. During my time in schools, I held positions in both Pastoral and Curriculum Management and enjoyed being a Professional Co-ordinating Mentor for PGCE students across a range of subject areas working alongside a range of Universities. As well as holding Qualified Teacher Status, I have also gained an MA in Educational Leadership and Management and I am qualified in Theraplay (Level 1), SEN (Level 3) and Mental Health First Aid (Youth and Adult).
I have been a member of the Virtual School team since 2016 and I am currently one of the Senior Practitioners. Working as part of the Virtual School has allowed me to work with and understand the challenges some of our most vulnerable children face. I have worked with various schools and teams of professionals to support these children to achieve the best they can to secure a positive future for themselves.
I am passionate about education and firmly believe children and young people are at the core of what we do. For me, to help children and young people succeed, it is essential we look beyond what is on the outside and look to what's happening on the inside to help them develop and thrive. We need to empower our young people with the belief that they can succeed no matter what challenges they face.
