Charlie-May Flaherty

I have worked at Hillingdon Virtual School since 2020 as a Virtual School Officer and enjoy being responsible for the Virtual School's Twitter page: @VSHillingdon. 

As a Virtual School Officer for Children with a Social Worker, I am responsible for supporting the implementation of the Virtual School's role in promoting the education of Children in Need and children subject to Child Protection Plan alongside the Virtual School Headteacher and the Advanced Lead Practitioner for all children with a social worker. 
 
I make visible the disadvantages that Children in Need and children subject to Child Protection Plan can experience, enhancing partnerships between education settings and local authorities to help all agencies hold high aspirations for these children. I also promote practice that supports children's engagement in education, recognising that attending an education setting can be an important factor in helping to keep children safe from harm. 

Prior to my time at Hillingdon Virtual School, I have worked as a Family Support Officer, Safeguarding Officer, Attendance Lead and Designated Teacher in a local Secondary School and hold a First-Class Honours degree in Education and Social Sciences.
