Charlie-May Flaherty

As a Virtual School Officer, I am responsible for improving the outcomes for Hillingdon's Looked After Children and manage a caseload of young people aged 4-18 years old. I also hold a First-Class Honours degree in Education and Social Sciences.

Prior to joining the Virtual School in Hillingdon, I worked as a Family Support Officer, Safeguarding Officer and Attendance Lead in a local Secondary School. My experiences in each of these roles gave me a greater understanding of working with vulnerable children and also introduced me to the work of Virtual Schools. This propelled my desire to want to be a part of one.

In my current role, I remain passionate about advocating on behalf of young people to ensure the best outcomes. Since joining the team in February 2020, I am proud that I was responsible in ensuring that Hillingdon Virtual School was one of only 100 schools to receive a donation of diverse reading texts and enjoy being responsible for the Virtual School's Twitter page: @VSHillingdon.
