Hillingdon School Placement and Admissions Team
The School Placement and Admissions Team offers advice and statutory guidance to parents, carers and schools, about all aspects of school admissions. The team must ensure that all school places for maintained schools including academies are allocated and offered in an open and fair way in compliant with the School Admissions Code 2021. The team are also responsible for ensuring that access to education is secured at a mainstream school as quickly as possible to support the safeguarding of children.
The team coordinates admissions to starting primary/junior/secondary school as part of the Pan London Coordinated Admission Scheme. The team have a lead responsibility for managing and coordinating the planned admissions rounds ensuring all statutory, pan London and locally agreed processes, protocols, timeframes and deadlines are adhered to.
The Schools Placement and Admissions Team is the admission authority for the 29 Community schools in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Part of this responsibility involves managing the waiting lists and allocating places at these schools in accordance with our published admissions arrangements.
The team also coordinates admissions to schools for in-year admissions, eg for families who have just moved into the area or wish to transfer school for any other reason. For those children who are vulnerable and hard to place, we undertake complex casework and present individual cases to the Fair Access Panel for an appropriate outcome within a timely manner.
The School Placement and Admissions Team are also responsible for the statutory requirements of appeals and consultations.
