Mary Rees

 I joined the Virtual School in September 2021 and have been welcomed in to a great team where knowledge and skills are shared, and professionals and children are supported as a result. In my role as Virtual School Officer, I enjoy meeting children and young people and making plans which reflect their views and aspirations.

I have come to the Virtual School from a background in Social Work, working with children in the care for the past 12 years. I understand the adversities which might affect the education of children in care, and the importance of supporting children to overcome difficulties and enjoy their education.

I have worked as a Practice Educator for social work students and have great satisfaction in seeing students going on to their own careers in social work and associated fields.

I am determined and ambitious for the children with whom we work, as education will enrich their lives and help them reach their potential in study, work, or other chosen pathways.
