Schools can continue to use the GLA link to access resources which includes templates, information for families and good practice examples. These can be used to assist with communication with families to encourage take up of the UFSM for Key Stage 2 pupils.

Sexual Abuse and Sexual Assault - Information for Asylum Seekers

We have added to LEAP leaflets in various languages in relation to sexual assault and sexual abuse to support people seeking asylum in the UK.  These documents have been produced by the NHS.

Adolescent Development Services - Targeted Programmes

#DoSomethingThisHoliday (April 2024) 

A free Easter holiday offer is available to those who have been referred to the Adolescent Development Service.

  • Monday 8th & Tuesday 9th April 2024 for School years 4-6| 10:00-15:00 | Ruislip Young Peoples Centre Bury Street, Ruislip, HA4 7SX | off site trip to Paccar Scout Campsite Denham Ln, Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards Cross SL9 0QJ. ZooLabs specialises in ethical and engaging animal encounters, and they are here this Easter. Over the two days, we will focus on environment and animal welfare, fitness, wellbeing and teamwork.  
  • Wednesday 10th & Thursday 11th April 2024 for School years 7+| Ruislip Young Peoples Centre Bury Street, Ruislip, HA4 7SX  | off-site trip to Paccar Scout Campsite Denham Ln, Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards Cross SL9 0QJ. Explore opportunities out of this world with the National Space Academy. Over the two days, we will focus on the environment, fitness, wellbeing and teamwork.

Emotional Health and Wellbeing Programme

The Emotional Health and Wellbeing Programme is a targeted programme provided by the Adolescent Development Servicesto support children and young people aged between 13-25 years who are experiencing mild to moderate challenges with their mental health. These can include anxiety and depression and other factors that affect emotional health and wellbeing.  Click here to make a referral.

 

Counselling Support for Young People Affected by Parental Substance Misuse

The SORTED team offers support for children young people affected by parental substance misuse. 

Supporting Parents whose Child Presents with Substance Misuse

They also offer support for parents whose child presents with substance misuse and are at risk of CCE and /or CCSE. The offer consists of 6 counselling sessions and will be focusing on: 

  • parent understanding of young person substance misuse 
  • parent and young person communication  
  • parent and their self-care

Elevate Youth Mentoring Programme

Elevate aims to equip young people from disadvantaged and underprivileged backgrounds with the skills, knowledge and experiences needed for the world of work, further and higher education.

They support students by helping answer questions like: what is the difference between university and an apprenticeship, how to prepare for an interview, what are the top skills employers are looking for how to create a CV.

Knus

Knus is the UK's first free, confidential, peer support and coaching chat service. They provide free mental health support securely through a selection of popular online apps. They also offer a free CPD-accredited course, known as 'Overcoming Anxiety'. Within this course, users get the chance to explore ways to reduce anxiety and receive unique feedback from volunteer peer support coaches, providing coping strategies and goal-setting exercises.

Ride London

Ride London are launching a new challenge in schools to inspire more children and young people to cycle. Complete your own 100-mile journey, collectively as a school community between Monday 20th May and Friday 24th May.

Repair Week 2024

Join London Recycles in their mission to promote the use of existing repairing services to prolong the lifespan of your clothes and uniforms, toys, gadgets, and bicycles. In the next couple of weeks, in support of this year's Repair Week (11th - 17th March), schools have an opportunity to discuss with pupils and staff about the importance of doing more than just recycling - by repairing and reusing more of the things we already own at home and at school - and enhance their repairing skills.

Team Repair offer a range of classroom packs to schools where children aged 10 to14 can use to learn practical repairing skills. You can email them at edu@team.repair to talk about funding opportunities.  

Hillingdon's Recycling Team is inviting everyone to join their Repair and Reuse Day on Saturday 23rd March, between 10am and 2pm, where you can learn to mend your clothes, have one electrical item repaired or bring your bicycle in for a basic repair. This event will be supported by our partners from TRAID, Friends of the Earth and the Restart Party, Dr Bike, Learn Hillingdon and Freegle.

TCS Mini London Marathon in Schools 

The 2024 TCS Mini London Marathon in schools is now open. All classes have to do is take on the 2.6 miles between 15th April and 10th May. Decide where and when the children will be completing their 2.6 miles. You can do this over one, two, three days or more, depending on the ages and abilities of the children. If your school does The Daily Mile then that can count towards completing the challenge. You can find more information here.

TCS London Mini Marathon Trials

Young people in Year 7 and above can now apply to represent Hillingdon in the TCS London Mini Marathon, taking place on 20th April 2024. Submissions close on Sunday 7th April at midnight. Details of event:

  • The TCS Mini London Marathon is the official British Athletics 2.6km road championship that takes place over part of the full London marathon course, the day before the main race.
  • We are inviting young Hillingdon residents between the ages of 11 and 17 years old to a trial to be selected to represent Team Hillingdon at the 2024 TCS London Mini Marathon.
  • This is an annual sports event, in which young athletes from across 33 London Boroughs and nine regions of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, compete against each other in a 2.6km road race.
  • This year's event will take place on Saturday 20th April.
