SEND Co-Production Charter

Ambition Group 4 has carried on the work of Priority Group 2 to co-produce a SEND Co-Production Charter for the local partnership.

This has been co-produced with partners from health and social care, schools and the LA. The easy read version has been co-produced by young people at our special schools, our Project Search interns, HRUC and other young people. The Charter identifies the Values we wish to uphold when working with children, young people and families with SEND in Hillingdon.

Both versions are available on the  SEND Local Offer for consultation and can be found on LEAP here:  Local Area Co-Production Charter.

VYED & Dual Registered Pupils

The Business Intelligence Team have been trying to understand why pupils are appearing in VYED with more than 450 possible sessions for the period 01/09/2023 to date.  One scenario we have identified revolves around dual registered pupils.  A small number of pupils have been identified that appear to be registered concurrently at 2 schools.  Both schools report then with an enrolment status "C", On-Roll flag of "True", a valid School Entry Date and no Leaving Date.  To us this indicates one of two situations, a pupil has not been off-rolled, or they are dual registered in which case the Enrolment Status flag is wrong.

With the forthcoming census we will pay particular to Enrolment Status and will identify schools with pupils who appear to be concurrently registered at two schools.  We have used the last school census to check that Enrolment Status is being reported correctly.  Most duplicates have the main school reporting the child with a status of "C", and the subsidiary school using the status code of "S".  There are also instances of "C" and "M".

These show the pupils are registered a more than one school, one of them implies using the "M" Enrolment Status that the pupil is dual registered.  This has an impact on VYED, both Possible Sessions numbers are reported for the same pupil.

Acceptable Enrolment Status Values are:

CS007

Pupil Enrolment Status

C

Current (single registration at this school)

M

Current Main (dual registration)

S

Current Subsidiary (dual registration)

F

FE College

O

Other Provider

For use in school systems and NOT to be returned in the School Census

G

Guest (pupil not registered at this school but attending some lessons or sessions)

P

When completing your school census please run the "Duplicate Pupils Reports (Same UPN and Different UPN) to resolve these issues. In the May School Census, we will not approve returns that have duplicate pupils reported.

Please contact schoolcensus@hillingdon.gov.uk if you have any queries.

Childminders Needed

Since the pandemic the number of trained childminders has significantly dropped across the borough. Add to this the need for more wrap around care and the changes in childcare funding we are now facing a 'crunch' point.

Here at Learn Hillingdon we offer Childminding Training including support from the Childminding team within the Local Authority.

CHO1039 - Introduction to Childminding is an 8-week course to help prospective childminders understand the course: Click here for information

The course starts Tuesday 18th June (online) 6.30pm-9.30pm.

Becoming a childminder offers:-

·       Flexible working hours that suit you and your family

·       Working from your own home

·       Making a positive impact for children, parents and the wider community

For more information, including how to attend one of our childminding briefings, please email tdonnelly@hillingdon.gov.uk
