That's Not my Recycling - Recycle Week 2025

As part of Recycle Week 2025, we're reminding schools to take part in our campaign to reduce contamination in recycling which launched earlier this year.

In case you missed it, it's called 'That's not my recycling' and we're sharing again the Recycling Toolkit. You can watch our short video highlighting the top items children need to keep an eye out for and help make sure they are not going into the recycling - at home or at school.

You'll also find some fun activities relating to recycling that you can print off as and when you need them, as well as some top tips to help your school recycle as much as possible and a printable certificate for any standout performers in your classes.

We'd really love it if you can accommodate some of this into the children's learning through the forthcoming term and help with our ambition for creating a greener future.

If you'd like to arrange a visit to your school from our Recycling Team to talk about this in more depth, please send an email to recycling@hillingdon.gov.uk.

Find out more about what you can and can't recycle in Hillingdon at www.hillingdon.gov.uk/dry-mixed-recycling.

For Primary Schools:

Wraparound Childcare Programme - Where are we now

Once again, we would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has submitted an expression of interest for the Wraparound Childcare programme so far. We are delighted to report that to date, we have supported 13 providers, including PVI's, Childminders and Schools to secure an additional 262 spaces. This has come at a total expenditure of £375,081.00 in revenue funding and £31,350 in capital funding.

This reflects an excellent collaboration with the Local Authority, ensuring that families are able to access childcare that supports a healthy work-life balance. It also provides vital childcare security for those seeking to return to the workforce.

If you have been considering expanding or creating a new Wraparound provision within your setting, then you still have time. We currently have funding left to support settings and anticipate that there will be further funding.

We have appointed a new Wraparound Co-Ordinator - Melanie Southby who will be happy to support you in your Wraparound Journey.

If you are considering expanding or creating a new Wraparound provision we are delivering a Wraparound drop-in information session on Wednesday 1 October at 10 - 11 am, click the link to join the meeting.

If you would like more information or have any queries, please email fis@hillingdon.gov.uk or msouthby@hillingdon.gov.uk
