Guidance on year 11 and 13 provision for the 2021 summer term

Guidance on year 11 and 13 attendance and provision for the 2021 summer term can be found in Annex B of the schools operational guidance. This guidance sets out the valuable activities that year 11 and 13 pupils should be engaged in. You should strongly encourage pupils to attend provision after the May half-term and make judgements about the appropriate activities for your pupils. This may not mean full-time provision and could include visits to education providers or remote provision. Where pupils do not attend, you need to record pupils in the register using the most appropriate code. Code S (study leave) should only be used to record leave for year 11 pupils during public examinations and, therefore, may not apply this year.

Separated Parents - Guidance for Hillingdon Schools

Please see  guidance [78KB]  on separated parents & domestic abuse for schools created by Hannah Ives (Child Projection Lead for Schools) and Stella Anaxagorou (Domestic Abuse Lead for Education). We hope this will be helpful as a reference point when dealing with these situations. Schools may also want to consider using this to create a separated parents' policy which can be useful to refer parents too in these situations.

Free Training from YGAM on youth gaming and gambling harm prevention

YGAM - raising awareness and building  digital resilience - Primary and Secondary resources

Sandy Thompson (Education Manager at YGAM - The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust) ran a training session in April which included Hillingdon schools and feedback has been really positive and the training comes highly recommended. Sandy has set up a further training specifically for Hillingdon school staff on Wednesday 16th June at 9:30am - 12pm (via Microsoft Teams).

The training is free and fully assured by City and Guilds - with staff receiving a certificate. The training is designed to enable teachers and support staffto deliver sessions directly to young people.  There are over 450 resources which are aligned to the PSHE and RSE Curriculum for KS2 to KS5. For each year group there is a full scheme of work and six 'ready to go' lesson plans, PowerPoints, and infographics, ideal for PSHE Coordinators and DSLs.

Topics covered include:

  • how young people are increasingly exposed to gaming and gambling
  • the influence of advertising, particularly around sporting events

FFT Announce the release of their Primary Attendance Tracker

FFT has released the following update for Primary subscribers which is available to all Aspire Primary schools. Infant, junior and primary schools now have free access to the same set of weekly attendance reports as secondary schools. The good news is that since the system went live, over 1,900 primary schools are already up and running. This is in addition to the 1,900 secondary schools that currently have access to Attendance Tracker. FFT expect the Primary numbers to rise significantly over the coming weeks as schools continue to connect their systems.

To access Attendance Tracker, schools need to make sure that Aspire is connected to their MIS with the latest FFT data sharing agreement in place. Schools can easily check their connection status by logging in to Aspire where they'll also find full guidance.

  • the role of social media, in game purchases, loot boxes and Esports
  • the signs of harm and where to seek help

Booking for the 16th June session is via this online form here.
