Vaccinations 12-15 years old

Please find attached some forms and information for the vaccination rollout for 12-15 years (this also applies to 16+ and staff if required).

  • Booking form (C19_CYP_school vaccine booking form v2) - please can you complete this and then send it back to me as soon as possible. There is a section for you to input two preferred dates - the scheduling team will then make contact once this is received to confirm which date you have been allocated. Please return the form to LBH Education (education@hillingdon.gov.uk) as soon as possible (by Wednesday 22nd September at the latest) and I will pass it on to the team. Please note that you may have the vaccination team on site for a number of days dependent on the size of your school. If you have any queries or are not sure how to complete any sections, please let me know and I can find out more from the teams.
  • Consent Form - There is a word version of the NHS consent form along with an updated consent form provided by another trial school. You are welcome to share the one you choose to use with parents - please find it attached
  • Resources & leaflets for parents - I sent out an email yesterday with the parent info and a letter to parents - I have added the links again below.

Please be mindful of publishing any dates, once agreed, for the vaccination rollout. It is down to schools' individual choices as to whether you wish to share the vaccination dates with parents once confirmed, however, we would advise not sharing this on websites etc. to avoid potential security concerns. I am liaising with the police to offer support to schools whilst taking part in the vaccination programme so we expect schools to have support of the local policing teams on the days you will be given.

The Youth Voice Census 2021 Report

The Youth Voice Census was open from 29th March 2021 to 1st June 2021. It exists to share the views and experiences of young people aged 14 - 24 across the UK. This is the 4th year running that we have asked young people to open up about their experiences in education, in employment, when looking for work, where they live and in this most recent year we have asked what the impact of COVID-19 has been for them. This year was the largest census to date both in terms of the amount of questions posed and the number of young people that responded. Over 3,400 young people shared their voice.

The key findings that you can read about in more detail are in four categories:

  • Growing Mental Health Concerns
  • Catching Up
  • Accessing Quality Work
  • No Space For Young People

Please use this link to read the full report.

Mandatory Exploitation Awareness training for Hillingdon DSLs

This year Hillingdon has introduced a mandatory training for all DSLs on exploitation. This is recognising the ongoing concern regarding the exploitation of children & young people, including an increase in concerns regarding primary age children. The updated KCISE (2021) has highlighted the need for schools to be alert to the risk factors regarding different types of exploitation and youth violence and this will also be a focus from Ofsted when looking at Safeguarding in your setting.

The training will be run by Phil Skidmore from Axis and will provide DSLs with an overview of CCE & county lines, CSE, Serious Youth Violence, gang affiliations/culture and missing episodes including current trends and themes in Hillingdon and nationally, signs & indicators for school staff to look out for and what to do. The session will also cover the role of Axis and the work they do in diverting young people away from exploitation and onto a better path highlighting the importance of schools in this area and the key to information sharing.

The first sessions will be on;

  • Tuesday 28th September 10am -11am (Via MS Teams) - Focus for Secondary Settings
  • Friday 8th October 10am -11am (Via MS Teams) - Focus for Primary Settings.
  • Tuesday 2nd November 2pm-3pm (Via MS Teams) - Focus for Secondary Settings

Session are free of charge

As the training is mandatory, we are asking that all Hillingdon DSLs attend as a minimum (also open to DDSL's/headteachers/pastoral staff).

Please could you email Hannah Ives, hives@hillingdon.gov.uk to let her know which training you will be attending and a link will then be sent out to you prior to the sessions.

Penalty Notice Protocol Consultation

As is required annually, The Participation Team have reviewed the Penalty Notice Policy. There are no legislation changes, the payment amounts and payment schedules set by the government remain the same but we have thought it necessary to expand upon the circumstances to be considered in advance of requesting that Penalty Notices be issued to parents (Section D) and particularly with regard to the impact that Covid-19 may have had.

We ask, by way of consultation, for you to consider the document and respond with any comments by 1st October 2021 directly to participationteam@hillingdon.gov.uk

Exclusions Guidance and Support: For Schools and Governors

An Exclusions Guidance and Support: For Schools and Governors has been developed by the School Placements and Admissions Team, which has a key focus on the procedure around school exclusions, governors and independent reviews as well as support options available both internally and externally. Other information includes a checklist for schools when considering exclusions, guidance on exclusions which are often considered 'one off serious offense' as well as model letters schools can use when informing parents about fixed and permanent exclusions.

Further to this, there is an online event which will be available for governors, which will cover a lot of materials outlined in the document as well as the new process around managed moves.

Training is available on Governors Briefing Sessions 2021-2022 and will be delivered on Wednesday 13th October 2021 between 6pm - 7:30pm.
