Make your Mark - Youth Council - Universal Youth Service

It is time for the "Make Your Mark" ballot organised by British Youth Council and supported by Universal Youth Service & Hillingdon Youth Council (HYC) to provide young people aged 11- 24 a chance to communicate the topic they care about most and then used by the MYP (Members of Youth Parliament) and the Youth Council to debate in the coming year!

We would like you to support this event by encouraging every pupil within your school to "Make their Mark" by voting in this ballot. The process takes no more than a couple of minutes and could be part of a group exercise to promote democracy and the right to vote.

The ballot starts 1st February and ends 28th February 2022. You can vote online or on a paper ballot (which are available upon request) and these are counted on 1st March 2022 with the full results available on the 10th March.

How do you vote:

You can watch a two-minute promotional video which provides information on Make your Mark www.hillingdon.gov.uk/make-your-mark , the voting can be carried out in two ways:

  • Young People can cast their vote online using:

https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=ebasqoHD-0izIPnVge6Uj-7a6Y6mutNHgjb7HGdYCU5UN1JXQkFaR0NWWVNFM0FISDRMV05KTVkwVS4u

  • Alternatively, ballot papers are available on request.

Further to the above, Hillingdon Youth Council meet weekly every Monday between 4:30pm and 6:30pm (Civic Centre, Committee Room CR4) and would welcome representation from your school to debate and influence local and regional activities that affect young people.

If you have any questions, please contact  Lakhbir Randhawa, Lead Youth and Community Worker HYC, Universal Youth Service.  Email  LRandhawa@hillingdon.gov.uk  Web: What is the Youth Council? - Hillingdon Council

REVISED ATTACHMENT - Young Cyclists Behaviour Survey - Years 7, 8 & 9

The LBH School Travel and Road Safety (STARS) Cycling Support Team are working in partnership with Dr Dan Bishop, a Senior Lecturer in Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences at Brunel University London.

The Brunel team are now running a project funded by The Bikeability Trust and Department for Transport, to improve our understanding of the barriers and enablers for Years 7-9 pupils and their parents regarding cycling on roads. The first part of the project is an online survey designed for the pupil and their parent/carer to complete together; those who do so will receive a £10 Amazon gift card, on a first come, first served, basis.

They can also choose to be entered into a draw for 3 additional studies:

•A joint pupil-and-parent/carer online interview (£25 Amazon gift card for each pupil interviewee)

•A cycle monitoring study in which the pupil would be eligible to purchase an award-winning See.Sense ACE rear light for only £10 (RRP £44.99)

•A Virtual Reality Cycling Competition (£250 worth of Amazon gift card prizes for the Top 3 performers)
