Stronger Families Champion Initiative

We are delighted to launch the Stronger Families Champion initiative for schools. It will be up to each school to determine what they can offer but at the least the champion will need to be ready to undertake a lead role on those Stronger Families Plans (previously a TAF plan but now simpler) where the school is the right agency for the child and family. The number of plans will be determined by you. You will have access to training and support provided by your locality team and to be part of external training programs that are coming our way soon, such as Parenting Apart. See role description here:  SF Champions Role Description (PDF) [100KB]

Please submit a short expression of interest - an email with a paragraph is fine - to the Stronger Families Team Manager in your locality by 27th May.

Autistic people know what it takes to provide the right support. That's why we actively encourage applications from autistic people or those who self-identify as autistic.

A diverse workforce is vital to our continued success.  We operate a guaranteed interview scheme ensuring that anyone with a disability and applicants from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME), who meet the essential requirements of the role, will be automatically shortlisted for interview during the selection process.

School Fraud Warning

Please be aware that the Council has been contacted by another London Borough to inform us that they had been targeted by fraudsters asking for a school's bank details to be changed. Please inform your staff that should they receive such a request, to ensure that they undertake the correct internal and external process checks. This is a good opportunity to raise awareness with all staff of the various methods of hacking and phishing in all business and personal areas.

School Plates: Healthier & More Sustainable School Food in Hillingdon

The School Plates programme, run by ProVeg UK, is making school meals healthier and more sustainable in over 2,500 schools across the UK. Would you like our free support too?

All the experts agree that we need to eat much less meat and dairy to achieve net zero carbon emissions for the future of our planet. Plant-based food is also healthier as it is packed full of nutrients and fibre, which most UK children are deficient in. By making school meals more plant-based, we make them healthier, more sustainable, and cheaper!

We have two free resources for schools: The Guide & The Recipes which you can download here.

Why not join our first online workshop for schools at 3pm - 4pm on Thursday 26 May? We'd love to see you there. If you'd like to attend, please register here: : Webinar Registration - Zoom.  If you have any questions, just drop us a line at schools@proveg.com

"We aim to make working with plant-based food fun, not a chore! That's why we launched our Plant-based Cooking In Schools workshops to give school caterers the confidence to be creative with plant-based food. We want to inspire you to give it a go and the best way to do this is by getting hands-on in one of our workshops, where you can quickly become familiar with new ingredients and new recipe ideas."

Foster Care Fortnight 2022

Foster Care Fortnight (9th to 22nd May) is a national campaign which raises awareness and understanding about fostering and the positive influence it can have on young people's lives. The campaign hopes to build support for fostering, challenge stigma surrounding children in foster care and encourage more people to come forward to foster.

Hillingdon Council's fostering team is looking for people who can provide different types of fostering and is encouraging employees to consider fostering or raising awareness among family and friends.

People from all backgrounds can foster, the minimum age is 25, and a spare bedroom is needed for any child fostered over the age of 2. We support and guide you in the fostering role and you receive a generous allowance, among other benefits.

Want to find out more about fostering?
