Food Waste Action Week (18th - 24th March) We invite schools to join us in supporting Love Food Hate Waste's Food Waste Action Week campaign. This year's theme is "Choose What You'll Use" highlighting the benefits of buying loose fruit and vegetables instead of packaged. Research from Love Food Hate Waste has shown that we could reduce food waste by 60,000 tonnes just by buying loose fruit and veg. Free school resources, suitable for 7-11-year-olds, can be downloaded here: https://www.lovefoodhatewaste.com/schools Find out more about the campaign: https://wrap.org.uk/taking-action/citizen-behaviour-change/love-food-hate-waste/food-waste-action-week Hillingdon Council is currently collecting food waste from 28 schools across the borough, which is then being recycled and turned into energy and fertilizer. You can watch a short video here showing what happens to the food waste. If your school is interested to introduce this service, please email us at recycling@hillingdon.gov.uk
